Volunteerism is a critical component to building a vibrant community and celebrating volunteers has long been a privilege for United Way of the Battle Creek Region and Gryphon Place. With our last STAR Awards celebration taking place in 2019, we’ve had several years to reevaluate our goals and impact of the event. We have concluded that a large-scale event and data-heavy nomination process is no longer the most inclusive and equitable way to achieve our goals of honoring the many types of volunteers who work hard every day to make our communities better.
We will continue to find ways to honor and recognize volunteers, particularly those who were nominated in 2020 or 2021. Our nomination process will remain open until April 25, 2022.
